In Greene county. We have no water but have electricity and Internet service.

My Internet, along with my landline, was down Friday night and came back Saturday morning. I then realized I had a message on my landline. It was from Friday morning.

It was from the sheriff's department telling me that everyone down river from the Nolichucky Dam should evacuate. I'm 12 miles down river from the Nolichucky dam. Well, that would have been good to know 24 hours earlier.

Anyway, my place is safe. Half of East Tennessee would have to flood before water would lap at my foundation.

Despite not having water, I'm thankful I didn't suffer like some other folks did.

Life is a gamble at terrible odds—if it was a bet, you wouldn’t take it. - Tom Stoppard.
