2. I dred the thought of the Rethug's referenda appearing on the ballot.

The referenda would need to pass in two consecutive general elections. The general election turnouts on 2023 and 2024 will likely favor the Rethugs, thereby increasing the chance that any proposed constitutional amendments that they force on the ballot will be approved by the electorate.
