Wolf admin sues Pa. Senate Republicans over bid to collect private voter information [View all]
HARRISBURG Democratic Gov. Tom Wolfs administration is suing Senate Republicans who are trying to access personal information on all registered voters in Pennsylvania as part of a controversial review of last years presidential election.
The complaint filed Thursday on behalf of the state, Pennsylvanias top election official, and the Department of State argues GOP senators are unlawfully pursuing a review based on a disproven narrative designed to undermine faith in President Joe Bidens victory.
The suit targets Senate President Pro Tempore Jake Corman (R., Centre) and Sen. Cris Dush (R., Jefferson), as well as the majority-Republican Intergovernmental Operations Committee that Dush leads. The panel voted along party lines last week to subpoena the Department of State for the name, address, drivers license, and partial Social Security numbers of every voter registered as of last November.
The subpoena, the complaint says, improperly seeks confidential and privileged information that is shielded from disclosure records that could then be turned over to a private vendor with ties to some of the most vicious lies about the 2020 election.
