Alleged serial counterfeiter accused of passing fake bills while out on bond [View all]

LOUISVILLE – A Canton man accused of passing fake "stage money" around Stark County last month was arrested while out on bond and again is accused of using phony cash at local businesses.

Daniel Armstead II, 48, of Canton was out on a $75,000 unsecured bond under a pretrial supervision program when he was arrested Aug. 9 on new charges.

Louisville police filed two criminal simulation complaints, each first-degree misdemeanors, and five counterfeiting charges, all fourth-degree felonies, against him. Armstead is accused of passing fake bills at Beatty Sports, Little Caesar's Pizza, Grinders Above & Beyond, McDonald's, Wendy's, and Domino's Pizza — all on Aug. 9.

He is accused of spending anywhere from $20 to $80 in fake $20 bills at each location, according to court records.
