Mom tased for resisting arrest after refusing to wear mask or leave middle school football game [View all]
Schools in Logan, Oh., were forced into a lockdown Thursday due to protests, confirmed the Marietta Times. These protests were spurred by an incident that occurred Wednesday, in which a woman watching a middle school football game was tasered by a school resource officer for resisting arrest for not wearing a mask or leaving the campus. These protests were in support of the officers actions.
The woman, Alecia Kitts, was watching her sons game in the bleachers with her mother, who was also not wearing a mask, says The Marietta Times. The two were approached by the schools assistant principal, Adam Twiss, to comply with the mandatory face coverings policy despite being outside and socially distanced. The officer was also called upon to intervene.
In the video recorded by fellow game-watchers, Kitts can be seen resisting the school resource officers attempt to handcuff her. In the midst of the struggle, the resource officer tasers her in the back, causing her to fall to the ground and finally be subdued.
Kitts is seen in the video with a mask in her back pocket. ABC13 Houston reports that she refused to put it on due to her asthma.
