In my experience it is frightfully so.

I am Iowa born and raised and having plenty of relatives in Iowa, many in farming. The cities of Des Moines, Iowa City, Ames, Cedar Rapids vote Blue. Why? Get out in the country Republicans dominate. It is a sorry Red State and now and the divide is pretty obvious. Protestations that Iowa is some well-educated, informed, logical thinking populace is false. They are divided and it won't get better with a mostly white, aging, population being stewed in hate radio. I wish it weren't so becuase I love the state. There was a time when it was more purple and at times Blue.
