Not a sport fan but: Gophers stun No. 4 Penn State 31-26 [View all]

Minnesota moved to 9-0 behind big performances from Tanner Morgan and Rashod Bateman.

Even the WSJ wrote about it

College Football’s Powers: Ohio State, Alabama, LSU...Minnesota?

The Minnesota Golden Gophers football team is 8-0. If that’s a foreign phrase, it’s because the last time it happened was before Pearl Harbor.

But 10 weeks into the 2019 season, AP-ranked No. 13 Minnesota is one of the seven remaining unbeaten schools. On Saturday the Gophers host undefeated, fifth-ranked Penn State in what is perhaps the program’s most important game in the last half-century.

Minnesota, which claims seven national titles, has chronically underachieved since its last one in 1960. The Gophers haven’t won a Big Ten Conference title in 52 years and have gone through coaches faster than Sweet Martha’s cookies at the Minnesota State Fair.

Enter P.J. Fleck, the third-year, 38-year-old coach who sprints the sideline before games and takes a flying leap into a mosh pit of players in the locker room after them.
