Somali-owned businesses in some Minneapolis neighborhoods say they're being flooded with harassing phone calls [View all]

Somali-owned businesses in Minneapolis’ Cedar-Riverside and East Lake Street neighborhoods say they are being overwhelmed with harassing and threatening phone calls.

“Almost every call I get,” said Abdirizak Bihi, a longtime community leader and business owner. “These people are picking up Google, Yelp, they are really putting the effort, time and resources to harass every Somali American or immigrant business.”

Bihi shared an email and several voicemails he and others have received, including messages with racist slurs, xenophobic and Islamophobic comments and other explicit language.

One caller said, “Please get the f*** out of my country.”
