Michigan man facing felony charges for voter fraud, AG says [View all]

A Canton Township man is facing felony charges for filling out, signing and submitting his daughter’s ballot to the local clerk’s office.

Attorney General Dana Nessel announced the charges in a Nov. 13 press release where she said her office is also issuing several cease and desist letters to entities and individuals spreading misinformation during the Nov. 3 Election.

“These actions highlight my office’s commitment to pursuing, investigating and charging, when necessary, election fraud,” Nessel said. “Signing someone else’s name to a ballot is a felony under state law, and spreading misinformation to purposefully interfere with our election and ballot-counting processes is criminal behavior that will not be tolerated.”

Michigan’s layered review of the election process make it difficult for a person to commit voter fraud, Nessel said, which is why it so seldom occurs.
