Gov. Whitmer extends order banning non-essential visits to hospitals, care facilities [View all]
LANSING, MI -- Gov. Gretchen Whitmer on Sunday again extended restrictions barring non-essential visitors to health care and juvenile detention facilities during the coronavirus pandemic, according to a press release from her office.
Whitmer signed the executive order to renew those restrictions before they were slated to expire at midnight. The new order remains in place through 11:59 p.m. May 31.
I know this is a difficult time for families, patients and workers across the state, but we must continue to be diligent in our efforts to slow the spread of the virus, Whitmer said in a statement.
Right now the best tool we have to save lives is to reduce person-to-person interaction. That is why it is necessary to extend this order and put the health and safety of Michiganders first. I hope everyone in Michigan continues to do their part to slow the spread of COVID-19.
