3. I do miss my Michigan

Jun 2024

my birthplace in Pontiac
growing up there and also up in Lovells,
learning to fly fish at 4 years old under my grandmother's tutelage on the Ausable River (North Branch),
wandering unsupervised in the jack pines at 5 yrs with my airgun, pocket knife and "punie" my dog.
Huge campfires with pie makers filled with bread crusts and apple filling under crystal clear night Skies
Feeling the bone shaking sonic booms from F-102's, Sixes and F4's while they trained in the 60's
Catching my first trout (too small) and keeping it in a bucket for my grandfather to see before we released it
learning to drive the Pontiac starchief when I was 8 with my grandfather having a panic attack as I threaded the needle between trees
watching my grandmother dissect a frog that I shot, showing me all the organs and anatomy

I live today in a better mental place because of my Michigan roots.

Thanks for resurrecting a few memories. That was really great.
