Polls: Thumbs-up for Pritzker's handling of COVID-19 [View all]
I’d take it with a grain of salt, but at least so far Illinoisans seem to be sticking with Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s slow-and-cautious approach to reopening the state’s economy, according to a poll.
The Ipsos survey for the Washington Post, taken April 27 to May 4, asked 8,000 U.S. adults to rate the performance of their state’s governor in handling the COVID-19 pandemic. Of Illinoisans surveyed, 71 percent said they approve of how Pritzker has dealt with the disease, and 27 percent disapproved.
The lowest marks go to Republican governors in Georgia, Florida and Texas who have been quicker to reopen, but only Georgia’s Brian Kemp is underwater at 39/61, with Florida’s Ron DeSantis at 60/38 and Texas’ Gregg Abbott at 57/41.
If the poll is correct, Americans are much more approving of what their governor has done than of the performance of President Donald Trump. But that didn’t stop him this morning from taking credit for what’s been accomplished by Pritzker and the others.

I was a bit surprised by this. The media seems to be so focused on the protesters and the people opening their churches and their businesses.
