and the teachers had too cover their work as well as their own for the same pay, which was already low to start with. The librarians, nurses, counselors, translators, tech, support staff, custodial staff, etc were all was cut by 2/3. Teachers had to assume those jobs as well as often being a substitute parent. Teachers give kids their own money out of their own mouths by feeding some students and supplying them with school supplies.. Everyone always knew teachers got shitty pay for their education and experience as professionals compared with similar professions and accepted the situations for decades. The way teachers are treated sucks. Little respect, long hours, etc are not fun, especially when you are told that no matter how much you accomplish it will never be enough. When Deathsantis add more BS to the pile it is adding insult to injury. A friend was going to transfer to teaching in FL to be nearer to his mother. They both changed their minds about 2 years ago due to the governor. Smart move on their part.
