Crime is down significantly in Los Angeles.

Petty theft is up from a low level but all other property crimes are down. Shootings have decreased by 17%.

Yet, despite these drops (& the fact that crime here was not high last year either), many think crime is rising.

Why? Fearmongering would be my guess. The kind of fear mongering invented out of thin air.
