'When I saw the devastation, I just went back home and cried,' Tornado in Cave City leaves town torn apart [View all]

Updated: Mar 15, 2025 / 10:37 PM CDT

CAVE CITY, Ark. – Winds at 165 mph tore through Cave City on Friday night, leaving five people injured and no known fatalities.

The National Weather Service called it an EF-3 tornado. Dean Hastings called it terrifying – as he rushed to take cover in his home.

“We heard some noise going on. The wind was really blowing. Next thing you know, it got eerie quiet,” Hastings said. “And it sounded like a train — that’s what they say.”
