Jeremy Hutchinson surrenders law license [View all]

Jeremy Hutchinson, the ex-senator who recently pleaded guilty to bribery, conspiracy and tax fraud charges in federal court, is surrendering his law license. On Thursday, he petitioned the Arkansas Supreme Court to allow him to surrender his license, citing his guilty pleas and pending disciplinary complaints before the Supreme Court over criminal conduct and civil matters. He also said he wanted to give up his license in “order to avoid the expense, distress and public embarrassment of a court disbarment action.”

Hutchinson pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit bribery in federal court in Springfield, Mo., on July 8. He pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit bribery and filing a false tax return in federal court in Little Rock on June 25. These were all negotiated pleas. He hasn’t been sentenced.
