2. Dirndl and Lederhosen are year round wear

in and around Munich. This is traditional and can be formal wear.
You definately see much more usage during Oktoberfest. More people and foriegnes also pick up some of the clothes.
(Some options for the dirndl and lederhosen are truely cheap and hideous. really)
Normall waitresses at German restaurants wear them, full length with teh apron tied in the back.
The dress is worn with a blouse which can be daring or modest and usually some kind necklace. Also an Apron is worn. The bow for the apron simbolizes relationship status. Right side is a commited relatioinship. Left is single. Center is youth/virgin. Rea is widow or waitress.
Lederhosen can be short, below midthigh, or to the knee or below the knee and full length. There is usually a decorative shirt, suspenders. A vest or sweater when colder and a jacket. Plus the hat.
