That was was back in the early 1970s when CBS would debut a relativity recent, popular movie on Friday evening, and then rerun it later that night after the late-night news. Two other movies which CBS allotted that treatment to were "M*A*S*H" (1970) and "Kelly's Heroes" (1970).
