I saw my first show in ‘78 while in the 9th grade and have been on the bus ever since. I’ve been to more Dead shows than I can count. The Dead has been part of my life for half of a century. I last saw Dead & Co this past spring at the Sphere in Vegas, and it was one of the best things I’ve ever seen. In the ‘80s, when mountain biking was just taking off, I worked at a bike shop in a ski resort community in the Rockies and rented MTBs to Bobby and his bandmates in Kingfish. I vividly remember him coming back to the shop after his first MTB ride with a huge smile on his face, raving at how awesome it was and how much fun he had. Twenty years later, I’d see him from time to time walking around the UWS of Manhattan. An era has just come to an end.
