And they knew all the great players so every album is impeccably played.
Back around 25 years ago, I was in LA for work. I went out on Saturday, so I had nothing to do Sunday.
I drove to Vegas to see the Star Trek: Next Generation Experience at the MGM Grand.
Was done early, so I took a walk on The Strip looking for lunch.
At the Luxor, I hear a band playing & go over there.
They were a Steely Dan tribute band, playing at noon on a Sunday.
Those dudes were GOOD! All good players all good singers. Seven piece as I recall, because they had a sax player, a multikeyboardist & a piano player. Then 2 guitars, bass & drums.
They were called The Regal Grift, an clear take on The Royal Scam.
I stayed for almost 2 full sets.
That extra 100 minutes got me behind all the SoCal traffic heading home. So it took almost 2 hours extra to get back. It was worth it. Those guys were excellent.
