So happy with my latest project [View all]

I live 1,000 miles away from the rest of my family. When my older daughter visited for Thanksgiving, she asked me to make her something - a plaid 50s-style shirt-dress. I found a pattern: McCalls 6891, A Palmer/Pletsch pattern which includes lots of fitting advice and has you do a pin-fitting of the tissue.
My daughter is petite but has a great shape, due mainly to her yoga and various acrobatic and dance groups she practices with. We made some adjustments to the basic pattern, and bought some really pretty Buffalo check cotton flannel in red, black and gray. My plan was to baste the dress together and send it to her for trying on...but what with the heavy mail this time of year, I decided to just complete it and mail it to her.
IT FITS...and she loves it. Can't tell you how happy I am that this worked out!
