I am an asshole, as each fucking dirtball insurrectionist gets convicted, I cheer for the longest sentence possible. I root for them to rot in hell. That said, they all have family and friends who know them differently than I do and hope that they have a chance to make amends for what they have done. When you are the victim of crime, or when a loved one has, it is difficult to see both sides, but when someone you know and love asks for your help and you know them as a person, it is not easy to walk away from them.

All I see is sadness here. Two people were using their money, time and celebrity to help missing and exploited children, and now because of a decision they made to help a long time friend, they are not. No one benefits from this.
