to develop his theories about the workings and the laws of capitalism. But this is not really a problem because once a capitalist system IS developed it WILL follow the laws Marx discovered which will make the Marxist view universal.

If you want a Marxist model that accounts for how capitalism works together and actually fosters colonialism and imperialism, look to Lenin. And if you want an idea of how to fight against colonialism and imperialism as an outgrowth of world-wide capitalism, look to Lenin and Trotsky.
