Today’s Announcement that Frontier Airlines Would be Outsourcing More than 1,000 Jobs in Denver
Frontier has said that that the cuts announced today were a “difficult but necessary business decision." This is absolutely not the case.
This is bad business and bad for customers.
United Airlines recently tried outsourcing ramp operations in Denver and it produced thousands of delayed and lost bags for passengers. It’s also unnecessary to eliminate the company’s ramp operations at a time when airlines are earning record profits, the price of aviation fuel is dropping and passenger loads are rising.
Currently, the Transport Workers Union is in negotiations for Frontier ramp workers at Denver International Airport. We are scheduled to meet with the company next week. We also are meeting with our lawyers about the legality of Frontier’s actions.
Transport Workers Union of America (TWU) represents 200,000 workers and retirees, primarily in commercial aviation, public transportation and passenger railroads, including ramp workers employed by Frontier at Denver International Airport. The union is an affiliate of the AFL-CIO.
