I think that one reason that we can keep things pretty reasonable is because there ARE so many different tendencies represented here and we all know each other. At least as well as you can know someone over internet posts. I believe that the key to influence with people is stating your beliefs and analysis and seeing whether it works out or not. Over a length of time, you get a feel for who's been right more than wrong and you begin to pay more attention to the ones who have been right most.

I don't believe in harsh polemics. And I've engaged in polemics before, but my polemics don't come from a place of ego, but from trying to make the movement for Marxism work and gain influence. It's very difficult to change someone's view if you're yelling invective at them, EVEN IF YOU ARE RIGHT.
