2. Thirty-five years ago, I had a neighbor in Arlington, Virginia, who was a big fan of carnivorous plants.

He had filled his back yard with homemade greenhouses. Northern Virginia was close enough to the Outer Banks, which according to the map is too far north for the plants, that he and his likeminded friends would go down there occasionally to help themselves to as many carnivorous plants as they could abscond with.

For an amateur, he was quite knowledgeable about them. I wish I had a few.
