Estimated at 12’ and was given the name “Boots.” I don’t know why.



He used to reside at a freshwater pond on the bay side of our island, fed by the effluent from our wastewater plant, which then became a popular birding center and park with a boardwalk.

But Boots left the birding center and used the tidal fed drainage ditches to come into town. When he was sunning on the banks, tourists flocked to see him with their dogs and young children. Due to their stupidity and fearing a tragedy, Parks and Wildlife was contacted and they came and captured him and moved him to a refuge
