shop for a new Part D plan every year during open enrollment. I had a Part D plan that was really low cost for a couple years and then jumped up by a factor of ten. I suspect they lure you in with low prices and then hope you won’t shop around as they boost the costs.

This last December I discovered you can go to the Medicare website which has a search function to compare plans in your area. It will show you the cost of your prescriptions under each plan, as well as the premium. But you’ll have to wait till the end of the year now.
