Damn, the new chain saw is so good, I'm quickly going to run out of logs to cut. [View all]
For Christmas I got an 18 inch Ego battery electric chain saw, my complaints about lithium batteries notwithstanding. (Yes, I'm a hypocrite.)
It's the fifth chainsaw I've had in the 30 years in living in this house, 3 gasoline, 1 corded electric and then this one.
I always have a ton of logs from downed trees on the property, and over the years, it has always required a chain saw to get them ready for splitting, which I do by hand with an axe. I'm an old man now, but I can still swing the axe.
I had some rather large longs stacked on the property, but the 16 inch corded electric job (Homelight) was just awful to use on logs this size, and it was a pain in the ass to run extension cords out to the wood pile. I'm certain the logs I cut today in an hour would have taken days of work.
The thing is quiet, and cuts through wood amazingly quick.
I now have enough firewood now to get me through two winters.
I'm going to run very quickly out of stuff to cut if I don't lose anymore trees.
It's just a minor expression of happiness.
