I wished it had been me instead of her, since I know a bit more about Constitutional Law and would have enjoyed sparring with the prosecutor. (My wife felt intimidated. )

A criminal jury is a different matter. I have been called and sat in the jury room with a cop who was also called. Neither of us were selected for the jury, which was good thing, since just sitting there, I'd already decided that the smirking defendant- charged with making rascist terroristic threats - was guilty. It wouldn't have been a fair trial were I on the jury.

You may be called for a trivial case, but on a serious case you have the opportunity to show decency where it otherwise would not exist.

Doing good in an indecent world often takes courage.
