Short of expending a sizable chunk of our nuclear arsenal, this amp up in bombing wasn't going to accomplish much other than galvanizing the Iranian populace against the US, strengthen the Iranian regime's hold. It would only lead to further escalation on Iran's part and do nothing to open the strait. And do little to blunt Iran's use of drones and ballistics. All of which were supposedly "obliterated" weeks ago but obviously aren't. Military leadership knows all that and it would put more of our people in harms way for nothing. Plus it falls heavily in the category of war crimes under the Geneva Conventions, even without the nukes.

Donnie got himself in a trap he's desperate to get out of, and he's about out of options. The "war" isn't winnable, certainly by any means that wouldn't cause a mass uprising in the US and a global economic collapse. His only option left is an unfavorable truce. They'll dress it up with weasel words and punk ass blathering, but it is what it is.

In short, Donnie and Whiskey Pete fucked it all up and now we're in a worse situation with Iran than we've been since the '79 revolution. At least then they didn't have a shit ton of bomb grade material.
