Also it was called the Spanish-American War, and it was very short-lived. Teddy Roosevelt became famous for riding his horse up San Juan Hill in Cuba. But other than a few naval battles in the Caribbeans, there was little engagement and almost no hand-to-hand combat. The war was over quickly and we were awarded the Philippines as our participation prize.
