The El Niño and La Niña system of describing weather cycles has been overcome by events. It seems like for every of the last few years, the predictions have been on the absolute edge of the parameters that they rely on for predictions. Rendering them to be weak indicators of the wide global warming swings.

Both occurring in the same season? I believe it’s happened recently.
