If enough ships run aground or are otherwise destroyed there, the strait may become useless as it becomes too dangerous to safely clear the mounting debris. No Captain would dare risk this voyage and no insurance company would insure such vessels and cargo doing so. The whole world will feel this disruption until another route may be used or until oil becomes replaced by renewables.
