Conservatism is basically punching down and any rationalization of it is a de facto attempt to legitimize bullying as policy. (my quote).
It's clear that we (liberals and progressives) are an "out-group" - not in sheer numbers, but in representation and thus power. You see it all the time - the atrocious activities someone with an 'R' behind their name gets away with vs. the hell that rains down on Democrats guilty of crimes far less severe. There is no equal justice under the law in the US.
Maybe it has always been thus - but now despite the bazillions being made in the market, the end is near. By the end I mean fast onset climate change and all the upheaval and scarcity it will bring. Our overlords see it coming even if their stupid "spank me more daddy" followers do not. They know things are going to quickly spiral out of control and what you see with these sentences is them trying to preempt the inevitable.
