The rich always take advantage of the poor.

Always. It is nothing new.

It is the complacency (and delusion, let's not sugarcoat this) of enough of the masses to allow him and his ilk the chance to act like leeches that created this mess.

Maybe we need to address that issue?

(Like that would ever happen.)
