My parents used to listen to the local garden shows on the radio here in Philly and then later, my mom listened to the garden show hosted by Ralph Snodsmith (who was broadcasting on WOR in NY for decades). When Snodsmith had a stroke, Mark Viette filled in for him and that's how I got introduced to him (he and his dad were originally from Long Island, NY before moving to VA in the mid-'70s).
Then Snodsmith moved down to VA (I think his daughter was there) and that is when I found the Viette's show (during the time when NBC kept preempting the WOR one that Mark was filling in on by simulcasting Meet The Press with Monkeyboy David Gregory).
I finally found the Viette's show streaming on WSVA (which is on a lower power station too weak for me to pick up directly on the radio, but covers areas closer to south central PA into Lancaster County. Then I discovered I actually had one of their books bought year's ago - "The Mid-Atlantic Gardener's Guide". 
Listening to the show, I hear all about that Rockingham Rocking R Ace Hardware a lot and the other Ace hardwares there in the area (who sponsor the show).
