They already had to register at 18. All this does is do it automatically for them so they dont need to remember to do it themselves, though most schools seem to help there. My high-school helped all seniors register to vote before graduation and all the men to register for selective service to ensure we could submit Fafsa applications. Not registering for selective service makes you ineligible for some federal and state benefits. Plus its technically a felony.

Draft Registration doesn't make you eligible to be drafted into military service. It instead includes your name among

I am spoiled by voting in Delaware. They sent me a voter registration card telling me where to vote.

Do they still use draft cards ? I would think getting one of those in the mail would raise a lot of questions ....

So they won't automatically register eligible people to vote, but they'll automatically register them for the draft

Many will say this is not that big a departure from how it has been done in the past. That shouldn't be our position.
