The Basij is a paramilitary group that supresses civilian uprisings and anti-regime protests

Teens are now checking citizens. I don't know if this is due to an increase of the Basij or if it is due to a loss in the Basij.

Sara, also in her 20s in west Tehran, told the BBC that she saw a teenager at a checkpoint on 25 March.

"He was holding a gun at the cars. He and the others were stopping cars and searching them. He was short and slight."

Iran is a tough nut to crack. They don't trust their own citizens and are well fortified.
