... heavily Spanish-speaking district. He taught rhetoric and diction(!) at a high school and coached the last-ranked debate team to the championship match of the state debate contest. Seeing the disadvantages which fell on poor and minority students, particularly from lack of education, was part of what drove his push for civil rights legislation.

Given that the maladministration has tried, and substantially succeeded, in rolling back the civil rights reforms that LBJ pushed for, it seems horrifyingly fitting that now they even want to close down the building named after him, after reducing education to absolutely zero priority. Their assaults on higher education show it's even reached a negative value in this WH.
