Looking at X-ray machines and magnetometers, "wanding" and/or doing physical searches of people who set either machine off, and going through belongs looking for suspicious items. That type of thing is going on in many non-federal government and private buildings.

They would probably be welcomed for having "extra" federal training for the position.

The Air Traffic Controllers are under a different agency (FAA) that is funded.
