He worked to make America the country of freedom for everybody as it is supposed to be and as we are all taught that it is. All of his actions both nationally and internationally helped to reinforce America's image as a beacon of hope in the world that would inspire other nations to follow the American example of constantly striving to be a better, freer, society despite previous sins.

I would think that his service not only to our communities but to this nation would have earned him that honor. If Billy Graham, who was not a President or General and despite his antisemitic comments found on the Nixon tapes was known to be an advocate for Civil Rights and integration in the US, was granted that honor why not Jesse Jackson ?

Is this some MAGA anti-DEI nonsense?
