He stupidly accepted their invitation to build a plant there, ignoring all the obvious sign of a trap. So, he went there, trained all of their production workers on building EVs, basically handed all of Tesla's proprietary tech to them on a silver platter, which China made very good use of.

The Xiaomi SU7 is basically a Model S, with better software, at a Model 3 price point.
