In reply to the discussion: Democratic Gov. Says He's 'Considering' Clemency for Pro-Trump Official Convicted of Election Breach [View all]AcanthaV
(9 posts)111. Clemency for an election saboteur? Sorry Governor, but "elderly" is not a defense for treason.
Governor Polis says Tina Peters 9-year sentence is "harsh" because she's in her 70s. Since when does age give you a pass to breach secure voting systems and fuel an insurrectionist movement?
Lets remember: She wasn't some confused grandmother. She was an elected official who used her position to compromise our democracy. If we start handing out "get out of jail free" cards to election deniers just because theyve reached a certain age, were telling the next generation of MAGA clerks that the consequences are optional. Keep her in Pueblo. Accountability has no expiration date.

Trump withheld funds to an important water project in CO & I wonder if this is related, cuz originally Polis was firm.

He probably figures if they have wild fires or something he might get aid for the state if he lets her out.

Didn't trump trash a major Colorado water project, by way of retribution for the Peters sentence?

Yes he did but I thought it was to punish Bobert for voting to force a vote

Your feelings of mercy, while admirable to a degree, are unwarranted and grossly misplaced.

She was totally non-repentant & stood defiantly during the sentencing hearing, & her sentence was not too harsh!

So, at 65, she was not elderly enough while she hacked an election for a fascist?

Maybe Gov Polis can trade clemency for this election nut for refunding that Colorado water rights bill of Boebert's

And if the situation were reversed, would a republican governor grant clemency?

What a STUPID thing to say, "people in their 70s and 80s in our system - how much of a threat to society are they?"

His political career as a Democrat candidate will be over and he'll be in the Joe Manchin traitor category.

Jared, she should die in prison. Alone. Thinking about her attempted murder of the USA.

I live in Colorado so I can say this - I do not believe Polis has much in terms of intestinal fortitude.
