to increase the authority of the military to follow any orders our president gives them.

Down the road an order will be given to shoot someone on 5th Avenue, or have Seal Team Six capture (kidnap) a blue state governor. Krasnov is accusing Tim Walz of corruption, he can simply bypass the judicial system for warrants and use the military to kidnap him and put him on a show trial.
