I think too much success came to her too quickly and she was ill prepared to handle it. She was much like a child with attention deficit disorder who couldn't concentrate on anything for more than five minutes. She even blew her short lived Fox gig.

Being chosen as McCain's running mate was possibly the worst thing that could have happened to her. She was clearly out of her league and it became apparent very quickly. She believed all that attention was real and that it would last.

I was going to say that she should have never resigned as Governor, but I'm quite sure she would have blown that too. She wanted the limelight, but not the responsibility.
