3. Without statistical methods, we can't tell the signal from the noise

Statistics are essential for making forecasts in a world that is inherently noisy. This is particularly crucial for testing the model predictions of climate change and making any model corrections. This is one reason that the Trump administration is dismantling the statistical support of government agencies. The administration is desperate to cover up, under a cloud of uncertainty, that the climate is changing due to human activities. Getting rid of the statisticians is their way to do that. Of course, not only covering up climate change, but the fact that the economy is going to hell. etc.
