These two are awful choices for our state. Stefanik wanted the UN job but Trump pulled the rug out from her. She and the GOP are completely out of touch with the political mood of NYS as evidenced by the gains the Democrats made across Upstate NY last month. I understand that fifty county legislator/supervisor seats turned Democratic white the GOP only took one Democratic seat. The Dems even got back on the county boards in very red Genesee and Tioga counties..
Blakeman was reelected in Nassau county because of their very strong old fashioned GOP machine. He would probably carry both Nassau and neighboring Suffolk counties in a GOP primary (also Staten Island and some Hasidic areas) leaving only the small Upstate counties voting for Stefanik. The general election will probably result in a Hochul/Democratic landslide. This will also result in the Dems taking even more Town and County seats especially if local elections will take place in even years. Let me games begin.
