(7,122 posts)46. An empty promise from a man who knows how to empty a bottle.
Drunks make these promises all the time, and, without counseling and lots of help, never keep them.
He needs to check into a detox unit and join Alcoholics Anonymous. After a couple years of demonstrating to everyone that he no longer drinks, then he could be considered for a minor government position, but never a major position in anyone's government.
The stress of being Secretary of Defense would break him almost immediately.
Of course he would still have the major character flaws that should have put him in prison, but didn't.
I hope the Republicans understand the danger to our defense that this guy represents.
