Alabama bans texting/internet use while driving. [View all]

Starting Wednesday morning,

drivers sending text messages or checking out the Internet on their smart phones
face a $25 fine,
with court costs in some areas adding nearly $200 more, if caught violating a new state law.

edited to add, from another page of same story:
In April, Alabama became the 38th state to pass a bill against
drivers writing, reading or sending text, email and instant messages.

Law enforcement officials start enforcing the law on Wednesday.

Well, duh..makes sense to me.

Edited to add this jawdropper:
OMG...I just found this:
Entering a phone number and talking on the phone will still be legal. Using a GPS navigation device will be legal
but programming it while driving will not.
